New Roots Charter School: Spring Showcase

New Roots Charter School will open its doors for a Spring Showcase on Thursday, March 30 from 6:00-8:00 p.m.  Interested community members are invited to join us for live musical performances, student-led demonstrations of learning, school building tours, conversations with students and teachers, and a celebration of our five-year charter renewal!

“At New Roots we believe that the best preparation for the future is a life lived fully with passion and purpose in the present,” says Tina Nilsen-Hodges, school principal.  “Our students enjoy learning, and what they “showcase” on Thursday will be a beautiful expression of how our academic program is a catalyst for their success in all facets of their lives.”

In 2016-2017, the school will pilot a new program called LEAP, a “gap year” between middle and high school for students ages 12-15 designed to re-ignite passion for learning and develop practical skills for high school success.  LEAP will be a rigorous, student-centered academic program featuring project-based learning, fieldwork, and service learning, with individualized learning plans to support high school level literacy and mathematics skills.

New Roots is now enrolling students for Fall 2017.  Seats are limited to 40 per grade level, with many in grades 10-12 reserved for returning students.  Please call 607-882-9220 ext 207 with questions regarding enrollment for grades 9-12 and our new LEAP Year program.
